"Come on, guys! Where's your fighting spirit?!"

"Kyle, this isn't a video game you know!"

It was an average summer day, with the small town bustling with events thanks to the lack of school. For these four boys, Kyle, Cameron, Henry, and Matt, their form of enjoyment came in the local Black Forest. Now, not many kids would spend their summer there, but this particular group of friends enjoyed just wandering around the forest, playing any kind of game their little minds would come up with.

The loud one was Kyle, a curious kid with a compass always pointed towards adventure. He was 4'6 with brown eyes and equally colored hair. Nothing kept him down for long, as he was always a positive source of fun.

Next to him was Matt, who was a year younger and personally hated going near water. It was an endless source of hazing for the poor kid. He had red hair and green eyes, being about 4'5 tall. Despite being in the grade below two of the kids, they always got together during lunch periods and outside of school. Ironically, they had first met after Matt thought he was drowning in a 3 foot pool. They still haven't allowed him to forget it.

They were joined by Henry, Matt's little brother, who was as mischievous as one could be at the age of 5. His eyes were as green as his brother's, although with brown hair to compliment them. The boy loved messing around with his big brother and friends, sometimes even hiding their stuff if he got his hands on it.

Finally, we come to Cameron. This boy was the odd one of the group. Reason why? He was more of a recluse, always in his house reading or whatnot. At 10 years old with blue eyes and black hair, he often seemed afraid at times to even come out of his house. Did he not like animals? Or plants? He would never say, but no one held it against him. On this day, only the crazy urging of his friends forced him out of his house.

"Cameron, what are you doing? That plant isn't going to sting you," sighed Matt.

"How do you know? I'l have you know that some plants employ poison as a means of defense! If I come across something, who knows what could happen!"

"Perhaps you should put the book down for once and actually go out instead of just believing everything adults put in a book." Kyle just smirked at him.

"You're really weird Cameron," laughed little Henry. Cameron just turned his head indignantly.

"All right guys, what should we do? We've got the whole forest to ourselves," Matt asked everyone.

"Hide and seek!" Henry instantly suggested.

"We always play that, Henry. Not everyone here is five," Cameron pointed out, adjusting his glasses a bit.

"You're no fun." The boy just pouted.

"Well, perhaps we could try...OOMPH!" Right as Kyle was about to say something, he instantly tripped over a root, landing face-first into the dirt. The others rushed over to help him up, while Henry simply laughed a bit.

"You all right?" asked Matt.

"Yeah....I'll be good.." said Kyle as he spat out dirt, with some getting over Cameron, who in turn tried to wipe it off as if it was a snake or something. Aside from that amusing moment, Kyle looked down at the root he tripped on. However, as someone who probably read one too many adventure books, something seemed a little off. A little rock around the root shined in the sunlight, though it didn't seem like one he had seen before. Kyle lived the closest to Black Forest, so he know most of like like he knew his own family. Course, when he looked over at the rock closely, his friends just raised eyebrows.

"Kyle, come on. Why are you looking at a rock?" asked Matt.

"Perhaps because his head is filled with them," quipped Henry.

"Ha ha, very funny. This rock looks odd." Kyle looked at the rock, now beginning to see traces of a green glow in it. The others looked down with him, starting to see it too.

"What is that?" asked Matt. "An emerald?"

"No way. You wouldn't find something like that out here," Cameron defied.

"Well, whatever it is, I see others," Matt said, pointing to just to the side of the green rock. There were three others, shining red, yellow, and blue as well. Looking further down, the little patch where Kyle tripped was rocky, and the stones were near the middle. Unable to help their collective curiosity, Kyle grabbed the green one, while Henry just grabbed the red one, saying how shiny it looked. Cameron adjusted his glasses closer as he touched the yellow one, with Matt looking at the remaining blue one.

"What in the world...."

Suddenly, just as Matt grabbed the final stone, the rocky platform beneath them began to rumble, causing the boys to run off quickly. Hiding behind a nearby tree, they watched the rocks shift and turn, until something appeared in the middle. Was it a hole? Kyle and Matt looked fist, seeing what appeared to be stairs heading down into the Earth.

"Well, this is new," Cameron observed dryly. Kyle's adventuring senses were skyrocketing by now. This was just what they needed to make their summer unforgettable!

"Come on, let's go see!" Kyle immediately started heading down, with Henry in tow. Matt and Cameron looked at each other and sighed, eventually joining them. Someone would have to bail them out when they got in trouble.

"Kyle, I'm going to kill you!" Matt yelled as he and Cameron worked hard to run down the mysterious stairway. "You too, Henry!"

The two boys eventually caught up with the two ahead of them and slowed down their steps. They began to take in their surroundings, such as the age of the stone the stairs were made of and the crystals of light that hung on the walls and ceilings to illuminate their path. The four usually never felt the same way about everything, but they were all simply amazed by the scenery of it, every one of their mouths agape.

"This is just like a video game," Cameron muttered. "What do you think this is?"

"I bet it leads to a dungeon full of monsters and everything!" Kyle joked.

Henry did not get the joke. "Y-y-you really think there's m-monsters d-down there?" he shivered while holding onto his big brother.

"Of course not," Matt reassured while helping lead his brother down the steps. "You know there's no such things as monsters. Kyle's just being a butt."

"Takes one to know one," his friend chuckled, causing the others to as well. Matt was ready to retaliate, but quickly closed his mouth once he, along with all the other boys, saw a bright light signifying an entrance. They all gained up speed before going straight out the opening and into a new room. Well, "room" was an understatement.

"Oh man, this is just like my church!" Kyle yelled, causing a large echo to bounce off the spread out surfaces. The place was huge, to say the least, about the size of a cathedral, and a sizable one at that. All around, crystals emitted a beautiful blue light that lit up the entire place all by themselves, though with the help of some of the shinier golden decorations and jewels. It was a beautiful scene, the kind that no one could deny, and the boys were left agape once again.

"We're rich!" Matt shouted while chuckling. "Gold, crystals, other shiny things! It's amazing! We're rich!"

"Look at those!" Henry said while pointing at a set of four tunnels at the end of the room, each with a different giant, shining jewel above them. One jewel was burning ruby, the next tunnel had a glistening pearl, the one after that had an shimmering sapphire, and the last one with some quartz.

Henry's attention was only taken once he noticed the red stone of his own begin to glow once it was pointed at the first tunnel. Moving a tiny bit closer to said tunnel, he noticed the stone glow a tiny bit more. He kept on moving closer and closer to the tunnel, eventually giving a fast sprint towards the tunnel.

"Henry, what the heck are you doing?!" Matt yelled to his little brother, to no avail. He just kept on running and running. The other boys began to run towards their younger boy, but Henry had already reached the tunnel before they could reach him. And as soon as Henry went inside the tunnel, a giant stone abruptly erupted from the ground and covered it. Henry was now trapped.

"Henry!" Matt ran over to the stone slab, slamming his hands on it until it began to hurt. Cameron came right over and stopped his friend's little rampage, as his hands were starting to bruise. Didn't stop Matt, though. "Henry, are you okay?!"

"I'm still here!" Henry yelled from the other side of the slab, the dark hallway illuminated by the soft glow of his red orb. Truth be told, while Henry was as bold as Kyle at times, the very idea of heading into the dark frightened the boy.

"Dang it, how are we going to reach him!" Matt nearly yelled at the top of his lungs. Needless to say, the thought of losing his brother was a one he would sooner banish.

"Calm down Matt, we'll find him again." Kyle came over and touched Matt's shoulder, causing the boy to turn and face him. Some slight tears were forming in his eyes, a plausible reaction to these events. "I think that maybe these tunnels could be connected somehow. Perhaps if we each take a pathway, we'll be able to find Henry somehow."

"You don't know that'll work." said Matt.

"Well, truth be told, it's our only route," Cameron pointed out while adjusting his glasses again. "This place is unfamiliar to us, and we lack the manpower to force down that slab. I suppose we could try to ask our parents, but would they believe us?"

"They probably would when they notice Henry missing for a long period of time," said Matt, wiping his tears away and beginning to calm down. "I agree with Kyle. We have no choice right now. Let's split up and explore each path. Hopefully, one path will come across Henry."

"So it's a deal," Kyle smiled, handing out his fist for a fist-bump, as he always did. The other complied with small smiles, though without a return to their friend's offer. Then, Kyle raised his voice, "Henry, if you can still hear us, walk down the tunnel. We'll try to find you along the way!"

"Okay!" came a wobbly answer. The others turned to the remaining tunnels, seeing the stones atop each one. Matt's stone began glowing around the sapphire, causing him to walk near the path. Once he did, a small shockwave came as another slab came right down on them, startling Kyle and Cameron a bit.

"Looks like this is going to happen for each path. Better tread carefully," Kyle warned , as his green stone began to shine around the pearl raised above. Likewise, Cameron's shined around the quartz, and the two boys separated, getting similar results as two more slabs separated the paths. Each boy was now on their own now, for better or for worse.

Back in Henry's corridor, the boy slowly walked down the pathway, ever startled by the slightest crack he heard. If there was one thing Henry feared above all else, it was the dark. That's why he was the only one of the boys who still used a nightlight at bedtime. He was always afraid of what things could come out of the dark, despite the insistence from Matt that there was no night monsters. Of course, Kyle didn't help at all there.

Still, it would only be natural that Henry, despite his hopes, would eventually reach the end of his corridor first.

The dark corridor that Henry marched through continued to give him dread, each step feeling like one step closer to an inevitable demise. He didn't know how it was going to happen, whether by giant monster, pitfall, snakes, or spiky walls of death, but all he saw in the darkness was everything ready to kill him. Why the heck did he want to go with all the other boys, anyway?! Sure, they were all the male company he could get in his town, but that didn't mean he had to follow them to the center of the Earth! Come to think of it, the cave seemed to become warmer with each small distance he took. As mortally frightened as the boy was, the warmth did comfort him a bit. Actually, the further he went, Henry could swear he saw the smallest bit of light. Going further in, he was surprised to see there was indeed a light at the end of the tunnel.

Picking up his speed, Henry ran towards the light without anymore fear of potential deathtraps. The light became clearer as mere contrast became a clear image of a new room. Said room resembled the one from before in that it greatly resembled a cathedral and was illuminated by an internal light source. However, instead of the glowing crystals from before, it stood lit by a large collection of flaming torches, along with a great bonfire in the center with a ring of jewelry surrounding it. Now, being young, Henry was always one to be distracted by such alluring sights, which he was for a moment, but his track of mind became grim once more after seeing that there were no other exits. In his sadness, the boy simply curled into a ball and began to cry on the floor.

"Oh, you got to be kidding me!" a female voice rang, nearly giving Henry a heart attack.

"Wh-who's there?!" the boy cried out, once again regaining his mortal terror. "Please don't hurt me!"

"I'm not going to hurt you, idiot," the voice said in a lower voice. "Still, this is the best I get? This is who will continue my legacy? Some whiny little boy?!"

"Lega-what?" Henry had never heard of the word, much less understand its meaning. He felt like responding to the 'whiny little boy' part, but he figured it'd be best to just keep his mouth shut right now.

The voice appeared to sigh. "Okay, this may take some time to explain, especially to a stupid kid like you. Just stay calm and look at the giant fire."

"Okay..."

Looking at the center flame, the five year old saw it explode into a towering inferno, heating up the entire room in the process. Henry would normally be running away, but the wall of flame was just to beautiful to look away from, with colors he couldn't have even imagine presented themselves to him. The inferno then began to condense in a single ball that began to expand into an almost human shape. To the boy's great surprise, the body-shaped mass of fire began to fold in on itself until the fire seemed like nothing more than fiery red hair on the body of a mannequin of ember. Said figurative mannequin then quickly grew distinct humanlike traits, like limbs, appendages, and, most notable of all, a face. Once the new body was formed, there now seemed to be a small girl, probably only ten years of age, hovering above the boy in a black cloak that contrasted with her flaming hair that crackled over her intense face. The girl's face looked mad enough to be steaming without being made of fire.

"Y-you're...you're..." Henry stammered. "You're a girl!"

"I'm a goddess, idiot!" the flame girl yelled. "Of course I'm a girl! Why else would you be at the temple?"

"Temp-what?"

She covered her face, frustrated. "Dear gods, this is who I end up with?" she grumbled to herself before clearing her voice. "Do you know what that rock is for?"

"No," he admitted. "I just found it, then we found this place, then we saw some tunnels, then this started being shiny, then I went to the tunnel, then it closed, then I came here, and now I'm here with you and the rock."

"You're just a fountain of information, aren't you?" The girl descended from her midair hover to get a better look at the boy. "Listen, long story short, I'm the goddess of flame Celosia and that is my spirit stone."

"You're a girl god thing?!" Henry blurted.

"I'm choosing to ignore that. Point is, that rock's supposed to make whoever finds it my ideal maiden. That means you, unfortunately. Any other questions?"

"Yes, uh...what?" All of a sudden, the stone that Henry had dropped on the floor began to set on fire in a blaze that began to envelope not only itself, but also managed to extend to the boy himself. He began to scream, obviously not wanting to be set on fire, but his screams began to falter once he noticed that they were not burning, only warming. Once he seemed to calm down, Henry noticed the flames begin to warm his entire body, causing a feeling of serenity he had never really felt before. For the briefest moment, he felt as if all of his problems had merely slipped away. Even his legs felt even more flexible than ever, as if the his little buddy between them was no longer a problem. In fact, he couldn't even feel it anymore. Wait...

"Gah!" Henry screamed as the fire subsided, leaving a small girl with flaming red hair and deep purple eyes grabbing her legs where a boy he same age was once standing. "I'm a girl! What?! Why am I a-?!" She crashed down on her legs, crying. "What did you do?!"

"You actually brought this upon yourself," Celosia said, a little sympathetic of the new girl. "Though, unless my memory's become a little fuzzy after the past few hundred years, the changes aren't done yet."

"N-Not done yet? W-What do you mean?" A little squeaky voice came out of Henry's mouth, far too different for "her" liking.

"Well....." The little goddess trailed off a bit, as if trying to find the correct words. "You see....Oh, looks like it's starting. Hope you're okay with growth spurts."

Before Henry could utter another syllable, a wracking discomfort shot throughout her body. This sensation felt somewhat familiar, almost like those times when you go through growing pains. However, this was much stronger and more widespread than usual. Henry wrapped her arms around her body, as she wracked from side to side in discomfort. Celosia jumped back a bit, her face an equal mixture of intrigue, amusement, and sympathy.

As Henry opened her eyes again, she slowly saw herself rising further from the ground, seeing her arms slowly grow longer right in front of her eyes. From her sitting position, she could see her legs growing underneath her, with the same growth applying to her feet and hands. However, that wasn't all, for her hips and rear began growing as she did, stretching out the too-small boy clothes she was still wearing. On her torso, her waist stayed small, but Henry began feeling swelling on her chest. Slowly, she saw her undersized shirt begin stretching out, as two mounds of flesh began growing, not stopping for some time until it reached beyond a normal C-cup. After that, the growing pains began to die down, but not before Henry suddenly saw a flash of red hair flow across her face. Combing it to the side, she saw a long mane of red hair flowing down her back. Looking at her hands as the pains died down, what was a 5-year boy was easily a girl in her late teens.

However, before Henry could ask Celosia what in the world was happening, another odd feeling swept through her. Looking at her right hand, she saw a long brown glove cover her hand, crawling up to her forearm. On her left hand, a simple glove covered it, with a similarly covered band on her left forearm. Around her feet, her little shoes morphed quickly into little brown boots that went to about mid-calf, with her socks feeling a bit thinner. Still, they didn't stop there. Quickly, her shirt and shorts fused at their hems, forming a single garment. The material changed colors, becoming an assortment of red, some white, and a little pink. The shorts parts separated, elongating down to her feet in a skirt-like style before splits appeared at the sides, showing up her mid-thigh. At the top, the neckline widened, forming around her neck in a halter top-style as the top part of her back was exposed. On her front, the neckline showed a nice amount of her cleavage. To add the cheery on top, her long hair arranged itself into a nice ponytail, completing the look as it swayed behind her.

At once, the changes just stopped, and Henry fell to the ground, panting in exhaustion.

"W-What was..*gasp*!" Henry instantly put her hands on her mouth, hearing a soft and mature womanly voice from her mouth. Slowly standing up, she saw that she was really tall, much more than before. She felt quite a bit of skin showing and yet, she did not feel cold in the slightest, as if there was a fire inside her. Eyeing a nearby reflection in the light, she saw striking purple eyes on her face, with her fiery red hair behind her and wearing very interesting clothing.

"Wow." Celosia flew right up in her face, examining her from head to toe. "Not bad I have to say. Puberty treated you very well." She added that point upon seeing Henry's ample bosom, which somehow made Henry instinctively cover it with her gloved hands, though she didn't know where that feeling came from. Everything was so alien to her.

"What happened to me?! Why am I so big?!" she nearly cried out, the words echoing around the shrine. Celosia actually felt her ears ringing after that.

"Well, let's just say you got dealt a bad hand, but then a very good one." A smile soon etched her face. "Congratulations! You are now suitable to be my maiden, and the legacy of my strength. I think there's some other words, but I really don't care. Personally, I'm just glad that I got a good one. I bet the other goddesses won't be looking down on me anymore."

As Celosia added a laugh to that, Henry felt even more confused than before.

"I'm so confused."

"Don't you worry, girly. You'll get to used to it, as if you had a choice. Oh, what's your name by the way?" she asked.

"H-Henry."

"Hmm, well that won't do now will it? Let's see....." The little goddess seemed to give it some thought, sitting cross-legged in the air as a lightbulb appeared above her head. "I got it!" She then cleared her throat again.

"By the word of Celosia, Goddess of Fire, I name you, Ena, as my legacy!" There was a bit of a dramatic pause there, but the girl seemed proud of herself. "Pretty cool, huh? I imagine more will be explained once your friends reach their shrines."

"What?! You're not making any sense!"

"Trust me, everything will be explained once the others finish. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when they see I got a hot one: figuratively and literally!"
Whelp, here's another collaboration between me and :iconsentinel00:, although one that's merely an edited thing we did on Writing long ago. There is much more to this story if you want to see it, so let me know. :)

Anyway, I'm also submitting this into :icondreamlycan:'s contest, which is right here: dreamlycan.deviantart.com/jour… Hope you enjoy as well. ;)
